Where is The Brain Train headed?

Our 5 main aims

There are just a few more weeks before The Brain Train officially launches, and we’re really eager to tell you all about the characters, themes and storylines. But before we reveal everything, we wanted to take some time to explain our aims and goals for our exciting new app.

OK, so what are Thinkofmagic Studio’s visions?

Aside from providing a unique educational app like no other - designed to engage, stimulate and expand young users’ minds -- The Brain Train prides itself on encouraging wholesome morals and values. In fact, this is the foundation upon which the entire app is built. We want children to interact with the characters and plotlines in a way that encourages them to take on board the app’s key messages and values.

Aim 1

To promote The Brain Train’s key values

We believe in the importance of:

  • Acceptance

  • Compassion

  • Courage

  • Self-control

  • Fairness

  • Generosity

  • Honesty

  • Integrity

  • Kindness

  • Perseverance

  • Politeness

  • Respect

  • Responsibility

  • Equality

These key values run through the many storylines and forms the backbone to the characters’ personalities. We think it’s important for Chester, Ruby and the rest of the gang to exhibit the sort of personality traits Thinkofmagic Studios believe in. They’re kind of like our role model avatars!

Aim 2

To develop cognition

Cog-what?...

Cognition (Noun)

The mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience, and the senses.

(Oxford Dictionary)

The Brain Train is aimed at children between 6-12. We are incredibly aware of just how crucial this period of a child’s life is in terms of developing their understanding of the world around them. It’s not always possible to physically travel to the far corners of the Earth, but that doesn’t mean children can’t find out about them. We want to nurture their cognition by immersing them in an app that takes them on a journey that literally explores the planet they live in! Learning through play, involving themselves in the stories, and by interacting with the characters, our aim is to develop the process in which children acquire knowledge and understanding in a fun, engaging way.

Aim 3

We touched upon the diverse - and perhaps surprising – activities and skills The Brain Train explores in our first blog. Here are a few of them:

  • Outdoor adventures

  • Camping

  • Fishing

  • Sports & exercise

  • Wildlife spotting

  • Caring for the environment

  • Recycling

  • Gardening

  • Cleaning

  • Cooking

  • Homemaking: ironing, sewing, washing…

  • Home repairs

  • Time management

  • Finance & budgeting

  • Arts & crafts

  • Gaming

  • Music

  • Dance

  • Teamwork

  • Pet care

  • First aid

  • Problem solving

  • Inventing & innovating

  • Brain training & memory

  • Geography

  • Disability awareness

  • Sleep & hygiene

  • Knowledge & understanding

Children are naturally curious. By introducing them to all kinds of new activities and skillsets, The Brain Train gives them the chance to see what’s out there. After all, what children don’t know they can’t learn about. That’s why we’re so keen to provide them with a bountiful supply of fascinating facts and concepts that help them as they go along - and to enrich their understanding.

Aim 4

To encourage the joy of reading

Being able to read is a fundamental human right. If the app can help that in any way then, in a sense, we have already succeeded.

There is an innate desire inside all of us for a good story. We believe The Brain Train provides just that. It’s a fun-packed adventure of mystery, discovery and excitement that children will engage with and enjoy reading.

There has been a lot of debate recently on whether children learn better by reading print versus reading from a screen. This is sometimes an emotive subject for parents, but whatever your point of view, the fact is children love using their tablets and mobiles! The Brain Train taps in to this.

There are a number of other reasons why we think The Brain Train will help develop your child’s joy of reading:

  1. The app provides an adaptable, non-linear narrative experience. Unlike a book, users can choose and be a part of how the story unfolds.

  2. They can have another go! By re-reading, the user essentially re-plays the game and can make alternative choices, maintaining their interest and enjoyment.

  3. Animated effects bring the story alive.

Aim 5

To make The Brain Train accessible to all children

Here at Thinkofmagic Studios, we have a dream for The Brain Train to be enjoyed by people all over the world; from children with privileged upbringings to those from disadvantaged families. Regardless of race, ethnicity, colour or nationality, and irrespective of socio-economic backgrounds - or whether they come from peaceful states or countries ravaged with war - our aim is clear: The Brain Train is for everyone.

Can you help our dream become reality?

In order for us to access children throughout the world, there are a number of barriers we need to overcome. Thinkofmagic Studios is in the process of identifying partners to help achieve our goal.

Might you be the organisation or individual that could help?

Here are the kind of partners we’re looking for:

  • Organisations that can help facilitate the app in regions where digital platforms are not accessible.

  • Organisations or individuals who can help translate the app into local dialects.

  • Organisations or volunteers who can donate time to read and teach the app to disadvantaged children.

If you are a person or organisation with the connections or manpower to make some of our dreams become reality -- or if you have any ideas to help - then please get in touch:
